Defending Yourself is a God-given Right

Defending Yourself is a God-given Right

The right to defend yourself is ingrained into the nature of all of God's creatures and transcends any law made by man. It's natural law. You can't get around it. Don't believe me? Watch a wildlife documentary and soon you will find that the evidence is clear. The only creatures that penalize themselves for defending themselves are humans. This is because there are those who have been led to believe that by outlawing guns and vilifying those who own or use them, then no one will have a gun and everyone will be safe. Peace wins! Wrong.

I love the U.S. Constitution and especially the right to bear arms, but no government gave us the right to defend ourselves. I'm sorry, but they just don't have the authority. However, we make a dangerous situation if we concede that our government has the authority (by way of the 2nd Amendment) and believe that the government did indeed give us this right. Why? Because if we believe that they gave us this right, then we imply that they also have the authority to take away that right.

If the criminals are carrying guns, then I don't blame anyone for wanting to arm themselves at least as well, if not better, than the criminals. The old quote comes to mind "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight." Unfortunately, defending yourself from criminals is just a small portion of this very sinister situation.

No conflict, no war, no fight of any kind in the history of the world was ever won by the side that disarmed themselves. In fact, the opposite is true. One of the first things you want to do in order to subdue your enemy is to disarm them or incapacitate their ability to defend themselves which I believe is the true reason why anyone ever propagates the argument that we should ban guns--any or all.

If you want to be a subject to the government instead of a citizen, then let your government become more powerful than you. At that point, your "rights" will become mere "suggestions" to your government...if you survive--just ask the North Koreans, the Chinese, the Russians, and the Cambodians.

1) Like a mad man, our own U.S. government has been buying up all the ammo it can get it's hand on (http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-04-21/why-is-the-post-office-buying-bullets).

2) The EPA shut down the final remaining smelting plant in the country (http://www.newsmax.com/US/smelter-plant-ammo-costs/2013/12/11/id/541317/).

Our government wants to subdue us, and they are taking steps to do so. How else can you explain why the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Postal Service, and the Internal Revenue Service (among others) are buying up millions of rounds of ammunition and have their own SWAT teams? Don't believe the two articles that I listed above? Go to your local sporting goods store and see how much ammo you can find on the shelves.

And for those of you who believe it is un-Christian to defend yourself, I have a couple of questions:  Why did Jesus say "I came not to bring peace but a sword"?

"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’" (Matthew 10:34-36)

The "sword" was the weapon of the day for the individual when Jesus walked the Earth.  Today's weapon for the individual is the gun.

Furthermore, why did Jesus himself tell his followers to go out and buy a sword?

"And He said to them, 'When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?' So they said, 'Nothing.' Then He said to them, 'But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 'For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors. For the things concerning Me have an end.' So they said, 'Lord, look, here are two swords.' And He said to them, 'It is enough.'" (Luke 22:35-38)
"Swords" (guns)?  "Knapsacks" (ruck sacks)?  Sounds a lot like military unit if you ask me!

Jesus ordered us to defend ourselves, and His authority is greater than the government's authority by a longshot.
